How To Make Thieves Oil At Home

There is a wonderful story behind Thieves oil.

During the plague a band of thieves were stealing from the ill, dying and dead. When caught and questioned as to why they never got ill despite being in very close proximity to those with the disease they revealed that they were spice merchants and had developed a special blend of herbs and spices which helped to protect them from the plague when rubbed on their throats, ears, noses and hands.

Thieves oil is anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-septic and anti-fungal and can be used as a hand sanitizer, rubbed on the chest and neck and used as an air purifier to protect from cold, coughs and flu.

If you’d like to make Thieves oil for yourself at home, then find out how here…

  1. I’ve come to the conclusion that I am either allergic to the essential oils, not using them right (too much), or my body is toxic and the oils are detoxing me. With all that said, I put away the EOs last night, went to bed (upstairs) @ 8:30 where there was no residue from the EOs. I slept well and woke up fine SO FAR!!! Any one with any info or experience with EOs, please chime in.

    • Hi Kimberly,

I’m assuming that you are having this reaction to the specific oils in this recipe. They are quite strong, so it’s important to know how you are using them as well. If you are infusing them in the air to clean it, I would suggest only doing so when you are out of the room.

It may only be one oil that you are reacting to (they are all easy to react to and shouldn’t be used around small children) so if you want to test it, expose yourself to one oil at a time. If you figure out what it is, you may be able to substitute it out with other effective oils, or increase the number of the other oils you are using.

    • Billie Nash says:

I have been sick since Jan. 7th./2013 with an upper respiratory infection which I treated with Essential Oils. I finally got sick of coughing for two months and went to the Dr. They ran a persussis test and I found out I am a 60yr. old woman with Whopping Cough.
I can say I am not disappointed that I used the oils because I truly believe it kept me from getting pneumonia. I’m sorry to say, if you have a cough that lasts longer than two weeks and you are faithfully following E.O. protocal and are not getting results… you might consider going to your physician.
