6 Fun Ways To Teach Your Kids Herbs

“We must take our children into the wild, introduce them to the plants, and teach them of their connection to the earth. In instilling in our children a respect for plant medicine, we not only care for their tender bodies but help pass along the seeds of a tradition that is as old as human life itself.”

– Rosemary Gladstar

It is important to empower our children with the knowledge to be able to someday take charge of their, and their future families, health. It’s also important to pass along traditional knowledge and is a great way to connect with your kids while also connecting them with nature.

Here are six fun ways to teach your kids herbs…

  1. I love making herbal crafts with my kids! I try to make it as hands on as possible and when I can yummy! We have made everything from a rich moisturizing cream to wreaths decorated with herbs to playdough scented with herbs and essential oils to mint cookies. I also teach herbal classes at a little loving preschool which is a great delight. One way that I love to work with the kids at the school is by focusing on one plant at a time. If I can I offer them to opportunity to taste the herb and then work with it in a tactile way, often making something to take home and share witht the rest of their family!
